What is reflexology and how does it work?
Reflexology is a holistic healing technique where the therapist focuses not specifically on a problem but the whole body to maintain the state of balance/homeostasis. This is not a just basic foot massage. It is a specific pressure technique which works on precise reflex points on the feet, based on the fact that reflex areas on the feet correspond with organs, glands, and all body parts.
Foot reflexology massage can be a deeply relaxing and therapeutic modality for those suffering from pain, soreness, anxiety, or insomnia. At Elemental Therapies, your massage therapist will apply special techniques to the foot and calf. This will help relieve pain and tension, decrease stress and anxiety in the entire body, and restore the body to a better state of harmony, health, and homeostasis.
During the treatment, you may experience a feeling of relaxation, expanding sensation of the body, warmth in the area of the body being worked on. After the Treatment, you may experience a change in sleep patterns, emotion changes, increasing bowel movement, cold-like symptoms and a desire to drink more water.
Make sure to talk about your pain level with your therapist during your treatment, because pain and sensitivity in the foot are various in different conditions. It is also a good idea to rest after receiving the reflexology massage.
